Making icons is one of the many aspects of game development that I enjoy the most.
At first, just making something quick and dirty, or using found or borrowed stuff as temporary dummies. Making the first drafts, then making one you kind of believe in. Adjusting proportions and lines, testing it in-game in the desired resolution. Going back and adjusting the first ones to fit with the newly discovered rule. Slowly establishing a unified language, until finally having grogged it, and reached the point where it’s “just” a question of producing the assets…
